Teaching and Learning - ‘Why is Science an important subject for our students, your children?’
The study of science provides opportunities for students to develop an understanding of important science concepts and processes, the practices used to develop scientific knowledge, of science’s contribution to our culture and society, and its applications in our lives. It provides an understanding of scientific inquiry methods, a foundation of knowledge across the disciplines of science, and develops an ability to communicate scientific understanding and use evidence to solve problems and make evidence-based decisions in our ever-changing world. The curriculum supports students to develop the scientific knowledge, understandings and skills to make informed decisions about local, national and global issues and to participate, if they so wish, in science-related careers.

STEM Ambassador Conference – Griffith University
On 26 March Hills International College was represented by Miril Passi, Ava Jones, Thomas Koen, Ava Hipp, Olivia Retallick and Steven Gurney at the 2025 Griffith University STEM Ambassador Conference.
The day began with the annual STEM awards presentations followed by the keynote address, How to Integrate Video into your STEM Project (From concept to community to communication), by Salvador Cantellano. This was followed by three-minute thesis presentations from Doctoral Students of the Griffith Climate Action Beacon, concerning STEM project ideas.
The middle session involved strategic planning where our ambassadors further developed our College's STEM Action Plan
After lunch Jennah Williams from Esri Australia presented on the use of GIS (Graphical Information System) in schools now and in the future. This was well received by teachers and ambassadors alike.
Secondary Media Reporters - Cross Country Carnival
On 21 March, Hills College held the Cross-Country for Years Prep to Year 12. Our 5-9 year old students ran 1 kilometre, 10-year-olds ran 2 kilometres, 11-13 year olds ran 3 kilometres, 14-16+ girls ran 4 kilometers, and 14-16+ boys ran 6 kilometres.
There was a war cry for every house which means that all the houses compete against each other with their chant.
On behalf of Hills College, we would like to thank all the teachers who organised this event for the students.
