Secondary Activities Program
At Hills College, the phrase College Activities applies to a wide range of skill-based games, strategies and interactive activities that support students' educational development. The goals of our College Activities are;
- to enhance students' understanding, skill or effectiveness in a specific area by engaging multiple styles of learning. These activities fall outside the scope of our regular curriculum.
- to allow students the opportunity to explore a range of interests
- to unlock passions students never knew they had, thus diversifying their interests which can assist with broadening their world view
- to develop students’ self–confidence, as they push themselves out of their comfort zone.
Working hard and mastering new skills in a fun, relaxed and sometimes competitive setting allows students to be successful without the pressure of the assessment and reporting process. The more students involve themselves in various activities over the course of the year, the more they will develop these skills. If they are passionate about robotics or some other group activity, they could continue to develop teamwork, problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
Activities are mostly available for one term but can at times be offered for longer periods. The following are some of the activities which assist in developing a range of skills at Hills College for Term 1.
